This applies to you regardless if you are running an entrepreneur, affiliate marketer, or run a business.

Why Email Marketing – Wait a second….
Before you can understand the full extent of the importance, we need to take a step back.
You need to understand what traffic is, and the three types of traffic that are available.
What is traffic?
Regardless if you are talking about email marketing automation or website visits. They all fall under the category of traffic.
They are actual people that visit your pages, sites, funnels, send messages etc…
If you give your website URL to someone that you meet at a BNI meeting. Then that person visits your website, that’s also traffic.
If someones search google for ‘why email marketing’, and finds this post. Then that person is part of my traffic.
If someone messages you asking about something. You have the opportunity to redirect that person to a page, site, or funnel. If you do, that person is now part of your traffic.
The list goes on.
Three types of traffic – Why email marketing is key
You can have many different sources of traffic, but every source falls under a type of traffic.
Because you need to understand these types to understand why email marketing is so important.
1. Traffic You Control
This is traffic that you can get on demand, whenever you want. This is 99.99% in the form of paid traffic.
Either via advertisements or joint venture partnerships, but always at a cost.
– On-demand, whenever you want it, it’s there.
– Targeting, target your specific target market.
– Volume, you can get a lot of traffic.
– Speed, you can get the traffic as soon as you need it.
– Measurable, you can track and measure your cost and ROI/ROAS.
– Scaleable, if you have a positive ROI/ROAS, you can confidently scale it higher.
– Cost, you will pay for each visitor coming through that source of traffic.
2. Traffic You Don’t Control
This is traffic that you have no control over. Such as organic search on Google, Facebook, YouTube. But also referrals from friends, clients, family and colleagues.
This traffic you can influence with networking, content creation, and SEO. But it’s not something you can control.
– Quality, organic traffic is often of high quality.
– Cost, it’s free, unless you spent $$$ on SEO (DON’T).
– Virality, if you create great content, it could go viral.
– Not scalable, without control, you can’t scale.
– Control, you can’t decide when you get this traffic.
3. Traffic You Own
This is the holy grail of traffic. You’ll soon understand why.
Your email list is the only type of traffic that you have 100% control over. You can have big subscriber list to your messenger bot, but if Facebook makes changes your done.
You should always keep a backup of your email list (do this weekly). By downloading the excel file with your contacts in it.
So even if anything happens with your email software, you’re safe.
– Cost, once someone is on your list, communication is free.
– Freedom, to communicate in any way you like, when you want, how you want.
– ROI, you can create a long sequence that helps sell your own or affiliate products (automation). This means good ROI for any time, money or effort invested.
– Software, you will need an email autoresponder (well worth it)
– Opt-in, requires that you can get prospects to provide contact details.
Three Reasons Why Email Marketing is Crucial
You see the importance of owning the traffic now. Because it’s the only type of traffic that we have full control over in all aspects.
Organic search, or Facebook groups, can vanish any day without notice. So your goal should always be to convert as much of your traffic into traffic you own.

You want to own all the traffic.
Without email marketing as your backbone for communication, you’re in trouble. You’ve seen it over and over again yourself. People that have crazy followings on social media, or massive Facebook groups.
Then you do something that Facebook disagrees with, and bans you or deletes your group. What do you do then? Well, you’re shit out of luck, Zuckerberg gives zero f*cks.
Your main focus with all traffic is to convert them and make them subscribers to your email list. Period.
You can do this in many ways, using valuable lead magnets is one of the best. You create guides, cheat-sheets, templates, swipe-files etc, and offer them for free.
But only in return for contact details such as name and email.
You’ll need a way to build a landing page, such as Clickfunnels, and an email autoresponder. It’s very easy to set up, but that’s for another post.
Why Email Marketing – Reason 2
You can automate everything
Email marketing automation is one of the best, most powerful, and underutilized tools. So many small businesses and entrepreneurs are leaving stacks of cash on the table.
Often because many think that it’s hard, expensive, and/or time-consuming.
When you actually save time, money, and effort by using email marketing automation. If you don’t you’ll actually be leaving massive opportunities out there.
So what is so great about email marketing automation?
Automate your communications with your list in an easy and efficient way.
Segment each of your subscribers in a very detailed way. See which of your subscribers that has opened which email, which links they’ve clicked.
You can even set it up so that you know if someone has visited a certain page in your website or funnel.
This gives you total control over all parts of your communication with your audience. You can now communicate depending on their individual actions, but still automated!

Build relationships, create trust, prove your authority – via automation!
Ah, the beauty of growing your brand all with automated systems. Connect with your audience, set yourself apart from the competition.
This communication, when done right, will be one of the most profitable changes you ever make.
You’ll have much higher perceived value if you do this right, and doing it right is not hard.
Imagine the difference between you and your main competitor. You use email marketing automation, he doesn’t.
Even if he has better offers, products, and services, he will struggle in the long run.
Most customers in fact, won’t buy straight away but further down the timeline.
If you use email marketing automation that provides value and strengthens your brand. You’re going to stand out. By a lot…
He might land more initial sales. But you’ll get way more sales further along with automated systems that work for you.
You’ll be able to ask for replies, with feedback and suggestions, again via automation. Those that do reply, will provide the most valuable insights you’ll ever get.
Email Marketing Automation – How Can You Start?
You’ll need a few things to get started. The list below will show you what you need and how to get them, examples included.

1. A custom domain name (Ideally you have one already)
If you don’t have one, you can get your own custom domain for $1-$20 at Namecheap.
I prefer Namecheap because they include free privacy protection for life. (This costs money from other suppliers)
2. An email to send and receive emails from (G-suite)
Once you have your domain, you’ll need a platform to work from. Since the industry standard is Googles G-Suite platform that’s my choice. (G-mail for biz with custom domains).
Very easy to set up, I’ve got a video that shows you exactly how below.
3. An email autoresponder (the email marketing automation part)
This is where the magic happens. The first 2 steps will take you 30 minutes at most to set up. You can start building your email sequences and segmentation in your email autoresponder.
There is much different software for this, but most of them suck. You need one that is easy to use and navigate, but also that has good deliverability.
I’ve used the following myself, ConvertKit, MarketHero, GetResponse, and SendLane.
They are all great alternatives, but my two current top picks are SendLane and ConvertKit. (I’ve recently moved from MarketHero to SendLane, and use ConvertKit for another business.)
